There was lots going on in the month of July our branch was delighted to be able to share the legal victory with members.

Legal Victory – Employment Tribunal Fees Scrapped

The Government introduced Tribunal Fees 4 years ago, which were introduced by the then Lord Chancellor Chris Grayling in July 2013.  Anyone in England, Scotland and Wales wanting to pursue a case against their employer has had to find as much as £1,200. This was a huge expense for many low paid employees.

Tropical Heat Wave

The survey is out with our women members affected, you might be interested to know that it is being well received.

If you haven’t done so already and this affects you please take time to complete it and send it back to the branch at UNISON, 17 Lombard Street, Sunderland, SR1 2HS.

Once the survey date to return has expired, UNISON will plan to meet HR and OD with the results to discuss support for staff affected.

WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality)

Sunderland Branch has now had the pleasure to meet with the WASPI Campaigners.  We are now in a position to give you the dates and venue of the events planned, which are:

  • Saturday 30 September, 3.00pm to 4.30pm
  • Friday 6 October, 3.00pm to 4.30pm
  • Monday 9 October, 6.30pm to 8.00pm

To be held in the Alex Suite, The Quayside Exchange Building

Pay Up Now Campaign

There has been quite a bit of activity from your branch to highlight the NJC Pay Campaign, we have just been informed that it is now called Pay Up Now.
